Tobramycin 0.3% + Dexamethasone 0.1% Eye Drops Use
This medication contains two active ingredients: Tobramycin and dexamethasone which belong to the group of medications called Aminoglycosides. Aminoglycosides are a class of drugs used to treat and prevent eye infections. Tobaramycin inhibits the growth of bacteria by blocking the synthesis of proteins that the bacteria need to carry out essential functions. It is an effective antibiotic used in the treatment and management of various systemic and eye infections. tobramycin, it is also active against aerobic Gram-Negative Bacteria (GGB- Bacteria), including the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Dexamide is a steroid that inhibits the production of prostaglandins, which are chemical messengers that cause redness, swelling and itching in the affected area. By inhibiting prostaglandin production, dexamide reduces inflammation, which can worsen eye infections. Together this combination is used for several eye infections effectively.
Directions to Use
- Before and after use, wash your hands thoroughly with warm water.
- Turn your head to one side and pull down your lower eyelid to form a small sac. Use the dropper to squeeze the prescribed dose into the sac. Cover your eyes for 2 to 3 minutes and wipe any excess liquid off with a tissue.
- Do not wipe or rinse your dropper tip. Return the dropper to the bottle and close the cap.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it immediately and right away. But if it’s almost time to take the next dose, don’t forget to take it. Go back to your usual dose. Don’t take more than one or prescribed dose at a time.
- It is best to rest for about 5 to 10 minutes, it can help in the proper absorption of the medication.
- Take this medication at same time every day for the best results.
- Shake the bottle well before every use, it will make sure the ingredients are mixed properly.
